| 7/29/2010 10:36:00 AM | Email this article Print this article Comment on this article | Vernon C. McFetridge Dec. 15, 1919 – July 4, 2010 Vernon C. McFetridge died at the home of his daughter, Kathleen Donadeo, in Salem at the age of 90.
He was born in Enterprise, the son of Elmer and Hattie McFetridge. He graduated from Enterprise High School and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska and went to Navy pilot school in Pensacola, Fla.
While in the service he was married to Joyce Craig, who was also from Enterprise. They were later divorced.
He lived most of his adult life in the Ontario area, working in dam construction and then the trucking industry as a driver and a dispatcher.
He retired in 1990. He stayed in Ontario until moving to Salem to live with his daughter in 2007.
Mr. McFetridge was preceded in death by his son, John; and his sister, Lorretta.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Donadeo, Salem; Carol (and her husband Jim) Eldred, Vail, Ariz.; Lori (and Don) Waring, Burien, Wash.; three granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren.
At his request, there were no funeral services.
